Volunteers

We have volunteer opportunities for all ages to make our festival the best it can possibly be. If you would like to become a volunteer, please sign up with our Volunteer Coordinators.

  • Balloon Crew - You will provide necessary support during inflation, lift-off, landing and glow for the balloons during your shift. Needed: First to sign up, first chosen
  • Balloon Meister's Assistants - We need six very special People who will be on constant call to our Balloon Meister throughout the weekend. You will have the opportunity to learn about balloons, the pilots, the competition and feel a real part of making the magic happen.Needed: 6 for the weekend
  • Chase Crew - help pilots inflate and deflate their balloons
  • Face Painters - We need talented and patient folks of all ages that enjoy face painting for kids of all ages. This will be in the Arts and Crafts tent area in the Kids Korner. Needed: 10 per 3 hour shift (none for Fri. am or Sat. am)
  • Field Services - These volunteers will come out to the Festival Site on Wednesday to help oversee where the tents and activities will be, to help hang banners if needed, put signage in the Mall etc. Needed: 10 on Wednesday
  • Greeters - Our Greeters are the first thing our visitors see. You need to be welcoming, friendly and informative. You must familiarize yourself with the Activity Schedule and where everything is located on the festival site. Needed: 4 per 3 hour shift (1 for Sat. am and 1 for Sun. am)
  • Information Booth - Two people for each shift will man this booth and need to be familiar with the Activity Schedule and where everything is located on the Festival Site. You must be familiar particularly with the Balloon Schedule—when they launch, the competitions, the glows etc. Needed: 2 per 3 hour shift (1 for Sat. am and 1 for Sun. am)
  • Kids Korner - We need a couple of people for each shift to make sure that arts and crafts are picked up, table coverings are wiped off, the area stays clean and welcoming. You will need to know the kid’s Activity Schedule and the performance times for the Kid’s Stage. Needed: 2 per 3 hour shift (none for Fri. am or Sat. am)
  • Lost and Found - There will be one person for each shift in charge of Lost and Found, which will be located in the Volunteer Tent. Needed: 1 per 3 hour shift
  • Mall - During your shift, you will be stationed inside the mall near the directional signs helping to make sure that visitors end up at the entrance. Needed: 5 per 3 hour shift (none for Fri. am or Sat. am)
  • Parking - assist Parking Crew
  • Runners - The Runners will be available to help where needed. They will primarily be responsible to helping with the ticket booths and Volunteer Tent. Needed: 1 per 3 hour shift
  • Security - Although we will have the entire Festival area surrounded by orange fencing, we will need help during your shift to make sure we have no “Fence Crashers” and that everyone is directed to the main entrance to go through the gates and the ticket booths. Needed: 50-60 per 3 hour shift (20-25 for Sat. am and 20-25 for Sun. am)
  • Sponsor Relations - Be available to sponsors during your shift. Check on them and see if they need anything, know where the VIP tent is etc. and know when activities are happening. Needed: 3 per 3 hour shift (1 for Sat.am and 1 for Sun. am)
  • Vendor Relations - Be available to vendors during your shift. Check on them and see if they need anything, know where everything is and when the activities are happening. Needed: 3 per 3 hour shift ( 1 for Sat.am and 1 for Sun. am)
  • VIP Tent - During your shift, you will help welcome sponsors, VIPs, and pilots into the area. Only those with wristbands will be admitted. You may be helping with food, drinks, keeping the tent picked up and seeing if anyone needs anything, where things are located and what activities are happening. Needed: 3-4 per 3 hour shift (1 for Sat. am and 1 for Sun. am)
  • Volunteer Managers - You have the important job of working with the other volunteer team members to make sure that packets are handed out properly, that volunteers for their shift know where they are going and what they are supposed to do; that they are relieved when their shift is over and that the next shift is ready to roll.Needed: 10 per 3 hour shift (2 Fri. and 2 Sat. am)
  • Volunteer Tent Coordinators - On your shift, you will be in charge of the volunteer assistants to make sure that volunteers are given their packets, their assignments that they signed up for ( or if they didn’t to assign them) and where they are stationed. Must have organizational and leadership skills as there is only one coordinator per shift.Needed: 1 per 3 hour shift
