Giant Special Shape Balloons start inflating on the balloon field both
Friday and Saturday night, October 23rd and 24th, weather permitting.
After their 30 minutes of fame, ALL the hot air balloons begin inflating. All the
balloons fire up their propane and start glowing in the night sky. Fantastic photo
op for everyone!!
The GMBF festival is Friday and Saturday, October 23 and 24; the Balloon Competitions are Saturday morning, October 24 and Sunday morning, October 25. Only the competitions are free.
The Tethered Balloon Rides this year will only be $10 a person on Friday, October 23rd; Saturday, October 24th; and Sunday, October 25th, weather permitting. Due to the upredictability of the winds, tethered balloon ride tickets
will be available for purchase 15 minutes prior to launch at the Tethered Balloon

untethered balloon ride at the Great Midwest Balloon Fest.
Our giant kites are as big as school buses - yes you read right - school buses. We will have kites that are 90 feet long and 40 wide depending on the wind conditions. The kites will be Soaring Friday and Saturday afternoons during the festival.
Kidz Zone will feature Bouncy Houses, Arts and Crafts Tent, Performing Arts Tent
with non-stop entertainment and the Kansas City Symphony Instrument Petting Zoo. All activities
in the Kidz Zone are FREE and included in the price of the admission ticket.
One of the biggest draws at a balloon festival is the fun of Special Shape Balloons.
Whether they are The Shark, Old lady in the Shoe, Elvis, or Darth Vader(all the way from Brussels, Belgium), they
are magical fun for kids of all ages.
